The First 30 Days

It’s actually been 33 school days as I write this post, but who’s counting? My goal for the first 30 days as your principal was to connect with community members here on campus and to be present in all areas of the school at all times. Being present by being in the moment and not distracted by my phone, email, or task lists. From arrival to departure I have seen all areas of our school in action and am learning a lot.

While connecting with students, teachers, education assistants, custodians, student trustees, parents/guardians, and our PAC amongst other groups, it has become abundantly clear that PCSS is a place where the community comes together to support our students. I am continually impressed by how people show up for our kids. The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged our commitment to our students well-being but I have no doubt everyone is doing their best to make this the best year possible. Could we do better? Absolutely. Will we do better? Absolutely.

So far this year our community has come together to modify the schedule, restrictions, and stepped up for our kids on the fly to improve the day to day learning expereince. Trust us and know that we are working together to make every week the best it can be.

For the next 30 days, I will be working with our community to continue to launch projects that build community and culture as well as reaching out to our community members and groups off campus to understand more about our vision, hopes, and dreams for our community. If at any time you would like to be part of this conversation, please reach out to me directly. I am committed to listening to understand more about PCSS.
