About SD8
School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) focuses on excellence for all learners in a nurturing environment.
Located in the southern interior of British Columbia, Canada, School DIstrict 8 - Kootenay Lake serves a number of individual communities including Crawford Bay, Creston, Kaslo, Meadow Creek, Nelson, Salmo, Slocan, South Slocan, Winlaw, Wynndel, Yahk and the surrounding rural areas, within a large geographic area consisting of two time zones. Our visionary, creative team focuses on providing the best opportunities we can possibly create on behalf of over 5400 students and their families.
Community Partners
At SD8, we are a community of schools that include educators, support staff, students, families and guardians. The district's primary focus will always be students, followed by families, teachers and support staff, as well as First Nations and Indigenous partners in education, and local government partners including municipalities and the Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK).
In addition, we continue to increase our focus on students transitioning to post-secondary education and have forged relationships with institutions across the province and across Canada. We foster a special relationship with those closest to us:
